IV. SEASONS
Death brings life, and then returns; Only change persists.

Mercenarium Function: When you activate the Seasons hymn, attach it to one of your materia (with a face value between 2 and 10) as you summon it, or to any of your in-play materia. The Seasons hymn cannot be attached to a Mercenary or Lord. To ‘attach’ this hymn card, place it beneath the chosen materia card so that only the hymn’s title is visible beneath the chosen card’s orientation line (see diagram).  If a materia card with the Seasons hymn attached is captured or discarded, place the Seasons hymn in the discard pile.

When you sing the Seasons hymn and attach it to a materia card, you may rotate that materia to an orientation of your choosing on the same turn (even if you are summoning that materia into play with Seasons attached). The title of the Seasons hymn should remain oriented towards the player who controls the card. In effect, the title of the Seasons hymn is the new orientation line for the materia. On any subsequent turn, the player who controls this materia may choose to rotate the card to a new orientation of their choosing as their turn action.

To attach: Slide the IV. Seasons card beneath the chosen card so that you can still clearly see the IV. Seasons title.

This card may now be rotated as a turn action. The title of IV. Seasons should remain oriented towards the player who controls the card.

Dragonfruit Meaning:
Cycle / Decay, Rebirth, Harmony / Disruption
Seasons represents the inevitability of change, and the universe’s inherent tendency towards balance. It symbolizes the presence of a force we must allow to take place in order to experience peace; all changes, for better or for worse, are simply expressions of an uninterrupted cycle.

Its core meaning (Cycle) implies the cycle of nature, in which death fertilizes the next stage of life; by learning to flow with change we can be reborn with every new experience and find inexhaustible reserves of energy at our disposal. Its secondary themes (Decay, Rebirth, and Harmony) suggest that these cyclic forces are integral to one another, with one receding and another arising, in an inherently beautiful process. Its alteration (Disruption) suggests that when we resist a natural cycle, it cuts us off from the energy of change, and puts us into a confusing state of uncertainty in which the universe conflicts with our subjective expectations.

4s are CYCLES: inevitable transformations of energy (job loss, emotional distance, illnesses and death) that we must learn to accept.

LYRICS:

I can only dream what you,
living all alone will be.
Seems there wasn't much ado,
whatever you meant for me.
Dreamers have to stay asleep,
missing most of seasons'
changed leaves.

Bless this restless leg,
don't forget your place.
Broken up and crushed,
nothing left but dust.

Love is changing like the seasons.
What you wanted has vanished like the leaves.
Heartache, holding on in memorium,
blossoms newly blooming,
all upon the trees.
