II. MEATWAR
Guardian’s gaze; The goblet comes at a price.

Mercenarium Function: The Meatwar hymn is activated as a reaction to an enemy player’s turn action. When an enemy player moves to capture a card, you may choose to immediately activate and reveal the Meatwar hymn, discard it, and cause both cards involved in said capture to be annihilated. This applies to any capture interaction, including those involving The Fool or The Fox. If an enemy player uses the Dragoon hymn to attempt (2) consecutive captures, the player holding the Meatwar hymn may choose to activate it after the first or second capture; in this way, you can interrupt the effects of the Dragoon hymn.

The player that activates the Meatwar hymn must pass their next turn.

When an enemy player announces a capture, you may reveal and discard II. Meatwar.

Dragonfruit Meaning:
Sacrifice / Ritual, Suffering, Necessity / Abundance
Meatwar represents the duality of harvest and work, and the struggle we must endure to be rewarded. It symbolizes toil undertaken willingly or with awareness, so that a goal can be reached, or a need satisfied.

Its core meaning (Sacrifice) alludes to a voluntary destruction or release of one thing to receive something else in return; or else, a change in our focus that allows something to fall away so that something more urgent can be cultivated. Its secondary themes (Ritual, Suffering, and Necessity) suggest the structured nature of this sacrifice, and that the person making the sacrifice is aware of what they are losing and what they hope to accomplish by doing so. Its alteration (Abundance) suggests that prosperity of all kinds can only be attained by those who are willing to suffer in search of it.

2s are SACRIFICES: acts of giving something up (time, money, pride, desire) in order to gain something in return.

LYRICS:
There's blood to lose.
Come through.
Food, is it you?
You'll save yourself,
and I will too.

I don't want the same runes
that have seemed to fail you;
all the crimson tales whose
souls raise hell do.
There's an ample pain, down,
looking past your eyes
where all the anger is.

It's a Meatwar!
I feel it too,
and I'm sort of sorry
this happened to you.

I'm ready for ascent.
For the courageous,
there is no medicine,
no medicine.

There's no medicine.
For courageous men,
there is no medicine.

It's a meatwar,
It's a meatwar.
